Gonzo’s Quest online slot review

Spanish explorers on a quest for gold, bearded badasses, treasure maps, Spanish ships and the New World - this game takes you to the times when conquistadores roamed the lands of South America in a quest for the legendary city of gold El Dorado. Gonzo’s Quest is another one of Net Entertainment’s incredibly detailed and beautiful online video slot games, with 3D graphics and an innovative way of ‘spinning’ - but the details you can find below.

Gonzo s Quest slot machine
The main character of the game is Gonzo the conquistador, based on the real life conquistador Gonzalo Pizzaro, the younger paternal half-brother of Francisco Pizarro, the conqueror of the Inca Empire. Gonzo set off on a quest to find the legendary El Dorado - he is on screen all the time while playing, guiding the player through the slots jungle.

The game has five ‘reels’ and not quite - Gonzo’s Quest uses an innovative ‘Avalanche’ feature where winning symbols disappear from the screen, being replaced by new symbols falling from above. If these new symbols also form winning combinations, they too disappear, making way to new ones. Avalanches of this kind also increase the winnings multiplier - 1x to 5x.

The scatter symbol of the game - an ancient Inca gold ‘free fall’ symbol - activates the ‘Free fall’ feature of the game. As reels in this game are replaced by falling symbols, the ‘Free fall’ bonus game represents the free spins. Three such symbols activate the 10 free spins, I mean falls, and can be retriggered during the free spins. Or falls. You get it, right? Multipliers are bigger during the ‘Free falls’ - 3x to 15x, after the fourth avalanche.

The wild symbol in this game is another South-American indian symbol - this time made of stone, with a big question mark in its middle. The wild symbol stands in for the other symbols of the game.

The payouts in this game are not that huge, but the multipliers sure do help. The lowest payout for a winning combination is three coins for the parrot symbol, and the highest one is 2,500 coins for the… well, I don’t recognize it… it’s a face of some kind, bluish-grey, with gold eyes (closed) and a kind of a smile. I’m not good at Inca and Mayan symbols, you know?

Anyway, the Gonzo’s Quest slot machine is beautiful, it’s fun and - most importantly - it’s different. No more spinning reels for you if you play this one, instead stone blocks are falling and exploding on screen. And, as we all know, explosions are cool…
